Tricorn: A 24-Hour Luminous Landmark Location: Monroe Memorial Park, Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. Scale: Human Material: Industrial Conveyor Belt Mesh (Stainless Steel) Concept: Tricorn is a sculptural fountain that repurposes industrial conveyor belt mesh into an optical screen that manages water and light. Key Features: Hydraulic Screen: Channels water using gravity, creating a refractive film. Chromatic Shift: Reflects changing natural light throughout the day, from morning to dusk. Illumination: Reflects artificial LED light, enhancing its presence after dark. Solid Prism: Composed of three belts, representing the three branches of government, it forms a glowing triangular prism that shapes light effectively. Phenomenological Experience: Dry Sculpture: Creates dynamic visual patterns resembling tree branches through viewer movement, transforming the rigid mesh into a kinetic surface. Wet Fountain: When activated, it mimics melting colored ice, producing hypnotic ripples and shifting perceptions of the material. Tricorn invites viewers to engage with the intersection of nature, perception, and abstraction, offering a unique visual and sensory experience throughout the day and night.
